Preventing & Fixing Mistakes
Skill Level: Novice.
Have you ever wished you could go to a knitting class that just dealt with fixing mistakes? Well, this is the one you've been waiting for. Spend a couple of hours making and correcting a variety of mistakes including twisted, dropped or incorrect stitches, and learning to tear back a stitch at a time or many rows at a time. Gain confidence and enjoy your knitting even more!
You will gain the most from this class if you are already comfortable with the knit and purl stitches.

This class is a great "next step" for newer knitters or a fun, relaxing knit for more experienced folks. You'll knit an attractive pillow, a good way to learn various stitch patterns that combine knits and purls as well as teaching you buttonholes and more! Introduction to Socks
Skill Level: Novice.
Never fear, and no, you won't need Underdog. Often feared for their peculiar appearance with multiple needles poking out at odd angles, these smaller projects are remarkably simple as well as infinitely portable. Waiting in line, at a football game, even during lectures and movies, these quick-to-knit and easily stowed projects are often knitters' candy—simple, quick, and on to the next project. This class focuses on the basics using traditional construction and tools*, but with these simple guidelines, you can move easily into more detailed patterns with confidence.*Yes, "traditional tools" does mean double-pointed needles.

Zig Bag Z

Stupid Sock Tricks
Skill Level: Adventurous Sock Novice.
Got a special skein of sock yarn but you're not sure you'll have enough yardage? Does knitting on double points make you feel like you're losing a fight with a hedgehog? Does picking up gusset stitches make your eyes cross? Have you been vanquished by the deadly Second Sock Syndrome? This class will allow you to deal with these problems and more, by learning how to knit 2 toe-up socks side by side on one long circular! Techniques will include learning the Magic Loop method, a really nifty cast-on, afterthought heels and working both your socks at the same time, using a basic generic sock pattern that will allow you to use any yarn weight to make socks that are uniquely your own. Students should have completed at least one sock (or sock class) prior to taking this, and have basic knitting skills.

You've fallen in love with her pair that was on display at the shop, so why not make your own? Previous experience making socks (one or two pairs is fine) is necessary for best results.

It always seems that we end up needing "just one more" gift for someone on our Holiday List. This quick class, using luxury yarns and big needles, will give you the necessary skills to complete something soft and beautiful (and fast! Rob finished his in one evening watching television) for your favorite someone. Note: the fuzzy yarn used is NOT mohair, and should be wearable by anyone with mohair or wool allergies. Fair Isle Christmas Stocking

Learn to use the two-handed Fair Isle technique to knit this beautiful multicolored stocking. With this technique, the yarns never tangle and there are no floats to catch those little fingers eager to find the goodies on Christmas morning. You will knit the cuff before class so we can jump right in with the two handed technique. She uses short-rows for the shaping and accents the edges with picots. Learn how to knit the magnificent Estonian lace patterns. The Estonian Potpourri shawl consists of 3 blocks, each containing 9 different lace patterns, 27 in all, plus a border and an optional snowflake pattern. 22x66 in or 22x74in with optional snowflake pattern.Class meets Thursdays from 6:30pm to 9:00pm on Sept. 11, 18, 25, Oct. 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, Nov. 6, and 13.

Class & Event Policies:
All class fees pay your instructors, so please help us continue to offer these classes by purchasing class materials at ThreadBear. If you would prefer to use materials not stocked at ThreadBear, please discuss alternatives with Rob or Matt; there are many available options that we do not stock every day, and we are glad to make arrangements to bring in the supplies that you need.
Registration for classes is not complete until all class fees are paid. Space will be held for three days if participants wish to reserve space over the phone and come into the shop later to pay registration fees. We can accept credit card payments for class registration over the phone to pay registration fees immediately; receipts for such transactions can be picked up upon next store visit or mailed upon request.
To maximixe the time of all participants and your instructors, please purchase materials prior to class unless otherwise directed for a specific class.
Except in the case of dire circumstances, please respect your peers and instructors by turning off cell phones and pagers during class. If you believe that mitigating circumstances do exist, please discuss them with your instructor prior to the beginning of class and excuse yourself from the class area to respond.
Class sizes may be limited, so please sign up as early as you are certain that you can attend. Since cancellations do happen, please consider being an alternate if the class you’d like to attend is full.
Only cancellations made three days before the beginning of a class will receive a full refund of class fees. Refund of any class materials will be based on standard refund policy. No partial refund will be issued for sessions not attended. No refund will be issued after classes have begun.

Formerly Coffee and a Danish, this group welcomes those of us
who could just stand a little moral support during the completion of one of those big projects
that, while lovely and loved, might seem a little daunting if it weren't for the company of friends in the
same boat. Bring your Danish kits, bring your Fair Isle... heck, bring your socks if that's what's stuck in
the basket and never seems to move forward. We're here, we know what you're going through, and
we're apt to have a joke or a smile to help you through.
